Black Panthers:

The melanistic color variant of Leopards and Jaguars are called Black Panthers. Both species have excess black pigments but their rosettes are also present.

Black Leopards are seen in Kenya, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia & Java while Black Jaguars are seen in Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica & Paraguay.

Even though both Leopards & Jaguars became Black for completely different reasons both are a rare gift of nature and must be preserved. Evolution took different paths to reach the same point.

Black Panthers are a rare sight and no exact figure can be reached as to how many are there in the World. Some say they are Extinct while others say Critically Endangered. Let us preserve our Mother Nature and help in restoring them.

Start by doing things like:

1) Stop mimicking animals in the zoo & also stop anybody around you from doing so.

2) Pay for restoration wherever possible like 'Adopting an Animal' (Costs little but goes a long way).

3) Take all precautions while driving through forest areas. Many animals die due to road accidents.

4) Don't kill any animal if you notice it in your area. Rather call forest department or NGOs working for safety of those animals to rescue them. (Google to find out their numbers in your locality.)

Remember even though they look dangerous they need your support.

Please don't disown them.
